On line 3 of app_config/pages.php there is the following comment:
//THIS FILE NO LONGER HAS ANY USE AND WILL BE REMOVED PRIOR TO THE RELEASE OF VERSION 1.2. RELYING ON IT FROM NOW ON WILL CAUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS. THE CACHED VERSION OF THIS PAGE WILL BE STORED IN app_config/cache/pages.php AND THE ACTUAL CONTENT WILL BE STORED IN THE "pages" TABLE OF THE DATABASE

So... I'm assuming it should be removed?

It's currently stored for legacy reasons. However, I have removed it for the release of FutureBB 1.4.

But at the current rate you will never make a 1.4!

FutureBB 1.4 is actually near completion. We just need to fix a few things with the upgrade utility and installer, and then just test it and we can release it.
